Re: “Ogden Point breakwater to get handrails,” Dec. 13.

Congratulations to the Greater Victoria Harbour Authority for its plans to install handrails on the Ogden Point breakwater.

This will provide a wonderful, safe oceanside experience, not only for people who use wheelchairs, but for those with impaired balance, families with young children, and the many, often elderly, who are unsteady on their feet.

But forget about access for speedy skateboarders and cyclists, as their presence would make the breakwater unsafe for the very people the handrails are intended to protect.
