Oak Bay deer rally was peaceful

This headline is misleading and inflammatory and did not accurately report what took place Nov. 23 at our rally in Oak Bay.

We planned a peaceful rally — there was no animosity, no rude language and no confrontation with passersby. The group met, sang carols, gave interviews, handed out literature and then proceeded up Oak Bay Avenue. Some decided to go to the mayor’s house. This was a poor decision but spirits were high and it was done with no ill intent. The group sang a carol, did not enter the property and left within minutes.

I am a founding member of DEERSAFE and I have never met a group of people more civilized, intelligent and caring. We are fighting on behalf of the deer who cannot speak for themselves.

We don’t use bully tactics and never will.

If the mayor was offended, we apologize.
