Re: “Right to die needs to be recognized,” letter, Feb. 14.
“We older people wish to be given the right and means to end our lives when we wish.” Perhaps the writer wants such a thing, but as an “older” person, I resent her attempt to include me by using such an inclusive statement.
I was not born according to my will; my life is a gift and it will end according to the purpose and plan of the one who gave it.
I do not doubt that I may reach a point at some time when I might wish I could die; I only hope that the law will protect me from such a weakness and allow me (yes, even force me) to live out my days as the gift they are.
