Move fish farms onto land

One hundred fish farms on B.C.’s coast. About 6,000 related jobs.

If they were moved into tanks on land, I can’t help but think it would create even more jobs. Construction, filtration, waste to fertilizer, distribution and transport.

No more shooting sea lions or scaring away other marine mammals. No more spread of disease to wild stocks or escapes. Expensive, yes, but what is the cost of protecting the ocean?

Maybe the provincial and federal governments could help the farm owners with some tax breaks or with construction costs. It would create jobs and solve the problem.

The technology exists. Why not do what’s right and solve the problem for good?
