Minority government would serve B.C. well

Re: “ ‘Realistic’ B.C. budget faces voter scrutiny,” Feb. 20.

I credit the B.C. Liberals for an attempt to balance the budget after nearly doubling the debt in their two terms. The NDP has responded by criticizing the reduced funding to programs and would create even more debt.

Both parties are disconnected from the debt issue that they will leave our grandchildren to finance. As well as debt, both parties’ leadership have a history of poor judgment and scandals in the last three decades of power.

We need new ideas, new direction in B.C. I’m looking forward to a minority government where independents, Greens and Conservatives will influence our future; Greens because they are idealists, Conservatives because they would reduce the size and cost of government, and independents because they are independent of party lines.

The two ruling parties and their lobby groups have not served us well with majorities. We have a wealth of resources that should benefit all British Columbians — it is time for change.
