The owner can do what he likes with his land beside the Juan de Fuca Trail.
I’ve hiked the trail many times and I have no doubt it would be improved by letting the adjoining forests grow undisturbed. But the economy of the region would be improved by either putting up a resort on the land or logging it. Apparently, the Capital Regional District has opted for the latter.
If some government, foundation or philanthropist wants to turn it into a park, they must buy it from the owner.
