LNG exports will help China reduce pollution

This commentary misses the obvious point on why we are shipping liquefied natural gas to Asia — to reduce their huge carbon emissions, which are growing at a frightening rate. Without LNG imports, China will continue to burn coal (now more than 65 per cent of their energy generation and, sadly, new plants being added continually).

What irks me is that the writer from the Sierra Club B.C. seems to suggest climate change is a B.C. issue only, for B.C. to solve. It’s a global problem that takes the entire world to deal with. B.C. exporting low-emission natural gas to China helps them burn less coal, which leads to lower emissions and less pollution.
