Liberals not listening about grizzly hunt

The only appropriate word is outrage. They just don’t listen to the electorate.

Once again, the B.C. Liberals have condoned the mass slaughter of grizzly bears to satisfy the egos of so-called sportsmen and trophy hunters. Not only that, they have increased the potential “harvest” to 1,800.

Recent surveys have shown that more than 80 per cent of B. C. residents oppose trophy hunting. The percentage is similar when respondents were restricted to “legitimate” hunters (those who hunt for food).

Some pundits bemoan the fact that voter participation rates are often less than 60 per cent. I suggest the reason is obvious. When politicians enact legislation that is in direct opposition to the wishes of more than 80 per cent of those who elect them, the result is both anger and apathy.
