Let the art school stay in its building

I cannot believe that the Vancouver Island School of Art (that’s right, a school) is being evicted by School District 61.

A school that is not-for-profit, is a private school with no government support, is accredited by the B.C. Private Training Institutions Branch, and has students local and international in programs. A school that started from scratch, from a dream that has become one of the major forces in providing art education in Victoria.

A school that has helped build the Quadra Village as a community. A school that opened its heart to anyone who wants to experience the excitement of making art. A school that has provided young and not-so-young professional artists the opportunity to share their knowledge in teaching.

A school that has become a community, and the only answer is eviction.

We have got to do better than this. What was the school board thinking? An eviction? No, let them stay.
