The time has come for the people of this province to demand the privatization of auto insurance. I insure a 2000 minivan in B.C. at a cost of $708 yearly with a 43 per cent discount. I also insure a 2000 minivan in Alberta with a yearly cost of $432.
How do you explain such a discrepancy when I’m receiving a 43 per cent discount in B.C.?
The Insurance Corp. of B.C. was not intended to be a cash cow for the government and the select few in charge. ICBC president Mark Blucher stated that more people are driving because of lower gas prices. Last time I checked, I was paying $1.19 at the pump. Maybe if I made as much as Blucher, I would think that price is cheap.
Let’s start calling for the abolishment of ICBC and bringing in privatization. Let’s stop the bleeding of our wallets so that we will be be able to keep a little more in our wallets.
