Re: “Cherry confident NHL back mid January,” Dec. 23.
Who cares?
Possibly we are missing an opportunity here to let Hockey Night in Canada meet its long overdue demise quietly and forever.
Watching hooligans clumsily crash into each other and sundry barriers, intent on having a punch-up at every opportunity, surely is beneath our national dignity. We need to move on from this hack performance and seek a more civilized form of entertainment.
The wornout phrases “He shoots, he scores” and “On the power play” are getting beyond old and are truly tiresome to listen to.
From an intelligent standpoint, if you have ever watched or listened to one hockey game, regardless of understanding the nuances of the game, you pretty much have seen them all.
How slow and dimwitted is a society that has to endure this boring repetition over and over again.
Surely a nation can do better than saddling itself with this albatross that deserves abandonment to our past when we were obviously less informed.
