The criminal-justice system deals with crimes, which are acts deemed to be against the social order.
While it is arguably a very human response to expect the system to factor vengeance into the process, a modern society tries to leave that out of sentencing decisions.
Therefore the factoring in of victims’ rights should be done very cautiously.
For every crime, there is a corresponding civil action available to victims, and that’s properly where personal wrongs are righted
