I volunteer in the extended-care unit at one of the local hospitals. Like many other facilities, the hospital is affected by budget cuts.
I understand economics as much as the next person, but why would you lay off the chaplains? As of Dec. 31, three chaplains at local hospitals will be laid off. I've seen the chapels full of people during the hymn and carol-singing services. What about those elderly worshippers? Will eliminating this service for our most vulnerable seniors really save that much?
