The cost of building the Site C dam has already increased from $7.5 billion to $8.7 billion in a matter of weeks. Rather than flooding prime agricultural land up in the Peace River area, why not spend a portion of those billions in supporting renewable energy, such as solar, wind, tidal and geothermal?

Creating sustainable energy in B.C. will create jobs in many areas of the province, without destroying farmland, and will create an economy based on clean and renewable energy.

Surely we don’t want to saddle our children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren with an enormous debt of $8.7 billion. In moving to 100 per cent sustainable energy, B.C. can be a forerunner in Canada in this field.
