We seem to be inundated with ads by Enbridge and its vice-president, Janet Holder, trying to convince the people of B.C. how safe their pipeline is going to be and how bright our future will be with it installed.
They tell us the pipe now is 0.8 inches thick, that there will be deep burials, isolation valves and monitoring 24/7.
After the horrific devastation of the forces of nature of hurricane Sandy on the east coast and the tsunami in Japan last year, this assurance doesn't amount to diddle.
Holder says: "At the end of the day, however, we can't guarantee zero spills. No one can."
I can, and so can everyone else who opposes this pipeline in the first place.
