Higher taxes take money from economy

Times Colonist
February 6, 2013

Re: “It’s time for B.C. to raise and reform taxes,” Feb. 2.

The writers perhaps make a compelling argument for raising taxes in B.C. Some reform may be needed; however, the bottom line is more money out of the economy and into the hands of government.

Let us just suppose government raises taxes to the degree and in the manner they suggest. Do you really think that would be the end of it? Hardly. We know the animal too well.

After adjusting to higher tax revenue, they would find other areas to spend money, arguing for more “much needed” monies and would then set about to justify yet higher taxes.
