Re: "Health costs not exorbitant," Nov. 4.
The editorial takes comfort from the fact that, "far from being exorbitant, per-capita health expenditures in this province are the second lowest in Canada."
Before we pat ourselves firmly on the back for our parsimony, let's remember that Canadian health-care costs, per capita, are fourth-highest among the developed nations. Nor are these excessive expenditures well spent, for Canada has the third worst health-care outcomes. Only the U.S. and Romania are worse than Canada.
