I voted for Green Party Leader Andrew Weaver in the recent provincial election and will respect whichever party he chooses to support.

However, I urge him to stick to his pledge of banning big money from political campaigns and introducing proportional representation. He must not sacrifice these two key objectives for official party status.

That is self-serving politically and isn’t good public policy. It’s as if he is saying: “These two things are good for the province, but wait, what can I get for myself and my party first?”

If the Green Party does the right thing here, British Columbians will benefit and give them far more than four seats in the house in the next election. They will achieve party status based on sound public policy and integrity. Isn’t that how they got this far?
