The reality is if we complete Site C our power rates will triple, or more, and we lose valuable agricultural land. Coal and nuclear are old-school.
We need to embrace wind, solar, tidal and most importantly, geothermal. Canada is the only country on the ring of fire that does not utilize our geothermal potential. Geothermal has a much smaller footprint than hydro and can be located closer to the urban centres that want the power, so shorter transmission lines.
We just need to be open to the new technologies. Maybe the first step is to re-name B.C. “Hydro.”
