Furstenau’s hard work secured victory

Steve Housser takes the low road in his disingenuous assessment of the B.C. Liberal loss and his own failed candidacy in the Cowichan Valley riding.

The Liberal government did not simply “hand on a platter” the “perfect platform” for Green Party candidate Sonia Furstenau’s win. Its ham-fisted favouritism to business interests and reckless disregard of an entire community’s right to clean water merely set the stage for an extraordinary backlash in Shawnigan Lake.

Furstenau led a four-year battle to turn things around. She worked steadily and tirelessly, and she won. Nothing was “handed” to her by the Liberals. She won the election because people admired her leadership and commitment, and because they connected with her values for a government more responsible to everyone.

Where was Housser when the constituents of the Cowichan Valley riding needed help on this issue?
