Having read so many negative comments on B.C. Ferries, I think it’s time to add a positive note.
Waiting to board a noon ferry at the Tsawwassen terminal on Boxing Day, I was savagely bitten on my left forearm by an enormous mastiff cross-breed dog. B.C. Ferries’ medics arrived at the scene within minutes and took me to the terminal’s medical centre. The medics wrapped me in a blanket and checked my vital signs. They then soaked my injured arm in an anti-septic solution, dressed the wound and called an ambulance.
When I returned to the terminal after hospital treatment, a ferry official escorted me to my vehicle and instructed me to drive to the front of the vehicle line-up waiting to board the 4 p.m. ferry. She then refunded my ferry fare and saw to it that my vehicle was the first to board the ferry.
All in all, apart from my encounter with the dog, a very positive B.C. Ferries experience.
