Esquimalt pushed around for too long

I generally agree with the philosophy behind the editorial. However, in this case, the Capital Regional District has pushed too far and for too long.

Esquimalt has been at the wrong end of the CRD’s big stick for years and has been backed into an untenable situation. We now have before us a serious proposal to dump all the sewage treatment for the entire city in our community. We have been offered almost nothing in return.

Due to repeated poor decisions, poor consultation, poor technology and poor design, a large number of people in Esquimalt and Vic West are threatened with very real negative impacts on their quality of life.

You can only push and pressure a council and a people for so long before they snap, and I think they did it very civilly. Nobody threw any punches; nobody used bad words in public. Esquimalt council simply asked that the person at the head of the sewage committee (and who is ultimately responsible for the activities of that committee) step down so somebody else can take up the torch and do it better.

Then perhaps we can fix this problem together.
