As a property owner and a part-time resident of beautiful Esquimalt, I was surprised to read your article on the proposed sludge site, surprised because of the way the Capital Regional District is handling this deal while the public has no knowledge or say in the matter.
Believe it or not, Esquimalt has a lot to offer with its proximity to ocean water, surrounding beautiful parks and some very charming neighbourhoods and walkways. Esquimalt is a great place to live with lots of variety in its landscape (and people) and yet close enough to almost everything in the CRD.
As well, it has a wonderful village centre with library, community pool and an excellent sports centre, all within walking distance of the ocean. Think: Gorge Vale Golf Club, Kinsmen Park and Saxe Point to start. From what I’ve read, Esquimalt has an amazing history.
It’s too bad that decisions like this are made by a few and for what’s expedient at the moment. I love Esquimalt! Let’s think this one through.
