Recent earthquakes in Mexico remind us once again that collapsing buildings are killers.
Victoria city officials have identified about 400 buildings that will likely collapse during a strong earthquake. Council’s highest responsibility is ensuring the safety and health of its citizens and visitors. The City of Victoria must now develop policies and legally enforceable programs requiring the timely completion of seismic upgrades in all of these very very dangerous buildings.
The city must not fail its citizens.
