Double standard applied to different watersheds

I am a resident of Shawnigan Lake and am deeply offended by Mary Polak, ministry of Environment and the other ministries involved for approving the dumping of 100,000 tonnes of contaminated soil per year in our watershed.

I am a resident of Shawnigan Lake and am deeply offended by Mary Polak, ministry of Environment and the other ministries involved for approving the dumping of 100,000 tonnes of contaminated soil per year in our watershed.

After reading all the reports and a lengthy appeal process, Mary Polak stated: “The risks are acceptable and the project is safe.”

Why are we allowing a company to dump contaminants with any kind of risk that will leach into our water. I am not sure she would agree if it were in her watershed.

There is a double standard happening here, as the Capital Regional District’s watershed is protected from anyone setting foot within it. Why are we not allowed the same treatment?
