I was back in Victoria recently and was dismayed by the number of tallish, concrete-and-glass condo buildings. The unique character of the city is gradually being destroyed.
While increased density in the core is preferable to urban sprawl, this can be achieved without tall buildings. Five storeys is sufficient (see, for example, the cities of Europe). Victoria is starting to look like Vancouver, but it doesn’t have to. One Vancouver is enough.
