Re: “Humans are meant to be omnivores,” Jan. 29
Respectfully, not so. In fact, the writer seems not to understand that a true vegetarian eats fish and white meat. It is a true vegan who eats veggies, fruits, nuts ( not all) and seeds ( at all times organic, most times available), not a vegetarian.
Before denigrating those who choose not to eat anything with a face or a mother, perhaps the writer should read the work of two brilliant specialists. One is T. Colin Campbell, whose monumental 40-year lifesaving and longevity nutritional work, The China Study, is a stunning must-read for every human who desires long life and good health. ( Isn’t that all of us? )
And the other must-read is Dr. Caldwell B. Esselstyn’s Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease, the brilliant result of a 20-year study into what keeps humans healthy and long-living.
However, if, after devouring the content of these two tomes (both available at our Island’s excellent public libraries and also at every bookstore in the land), the reader still wishes to continue to eat that which originally had a face and a mother (and any product that comes from such, i.e. blood, heart, kidney, liver, milk, cheese, eggs, etc.), it is, of course, as is the opportunity in our free society, their prerogative.
