One way to reduce pedestrians being struck by vehicles in crosswalks and elsewhere is to change dress habits.
Why, in our winter environment where it is dark and rainy so much of the time, do people persist in dressing in various shades of dark clothing before venturing outdoors? It is also particularly dangerous for cyclists who ignore the law and persist in having no lights as they pedal along dimly lit streets clad in black, making themselves virtually invisible to drivers peering through rain-soaked windshields.
Wear something bright - and get a light.
