Canada is a real country

I am sure the letter-writer must have a military background to make statements regarding the purchase of aircraft and naval equipment. It sounds as if he is closely tied to what seemingly is a terrifying world.

The one thing I strongly object to is the statement: “if Canada were a real country.” Canada is indeed a real country, a great country, one in which I have lived for nearly 50 years. It is not a sabre-rattling, jingoistic superpower, but an intelligent, diplomatic, peace-loving country that is well aware of the threats out there in the world and punches well above its weight, when needed.

O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
