Balanced budgets just smoke and mirrors

I have lived in British Columbia for more than 70 years, and have been extremely proud of living in the most beautiful province in Canada. But never because the various governments had balanced the budget.

Political budgets are nothing but smoke and mirrors, and a very good example of this was when young Bill Bennett, the son of W.A.C. Bennett, stated he balanced the budget.

The Finance Ministry was millions of dollars short, so a fund was established called the Budget Stabilization Fund, better known as the BS fund. A short time later, the government required millions of dollars for an important project, but said it was broke.

When someone mentioned the BS fund, the government had to admit there was no money in the fund. In other words, it was all BS. So much for balanced budgets.

But politicians are lucky that men and women have short memories; a young Bill Bennett was referred to as the best premier British Columbia ever had.
