Re: “Saanich council at odds with new mayor,” Dec. 18.
Mayor Richard Atwell’s actions in adding $500,000 in needless costs to Saanich tax bills in his first month on the job are outrageous. He seems to take his cue from Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s style in making unilateral and dictatorial decisions.
He does not have that power, and now we are on the hook for an egregious display of egotism. As a voter and taxpayer, I hope he smartens up quickly.
