Re: “Artist leaving a remarkable legacy,” Dec. 6.
Robert Amos’s tribute to artist Jim Gordaneer accurately captured the essence of a wonderful, self-effacing and generous man.
As someone fortunate enough to own a couple of his smaller paintings, I can attest to Jim’s brilliant artistry — as well as to his innate kindness.
There is another aspect to Jim that his friends know well: His wicked sense of humour. I still chuckle at his jokes, decades after first hearing Jim gleefully relate them. More than one of his jokes would be entirely inappropriate in polite company.
In summary: A pillar of Victoria’s culture, in every sense of the word.
