Another unmentioned fact is that B.C. Ferries is now in the trucking business.
They have a drop-trailer service.
What we don't know is the cost of this service, the cost of buying the tractors and if this service is subsidized by the government or fares?
Do the tractors get charged for the crossings and do the drivers go with the units? If not, can any company send its tractor-trailer units on the sailings without the drivers going across?
If the tractors are getting a free ride, how many paying car spaces are they using? How much room in the parking lots are used to store these trailers?
I speculate this is a money-losing venture that we are subsidizing.
