Re: “Sewage decision another reason for amalgamation,” March 24.
The writer decries the decision to build a sewage treatment facility in Esquimalt and suggests that amalgamation will prevent similar decisions in the future.
Drawing such a conclusion is ill-founded, as it will have the opposite effect. Viewfield Street was chosen by the Capital Regional District, a region-wide organization. As such, it provides a forecast of how decisions will occur post-amalgamation.
If the writer disagrees with the CRD’s decision, she should be arguing against amalgamation rather than for it.
