Albertans fed up with hypocrisy

We in Alberta are getting fed up with B.C. Premier John Horgan’s hypocrisy over blocking the expansion of the Kinder Morgan pipeline.

The Port of Vancouver is going to welcome 241 cruise ships in a season that started on Tuesday. They steam right into downtown Vancouver at the Canada Place cruise-ship terminal.

It seems to me that 241 ships, each burning 360,000 litres of heavy oil a day — bunker oil — are a bigger threat to Vancouver and Victoria harbours than the pipeline. They aren’t double-hulled, as oil-tankers are, and just think of a harbour full of bunker oil.

So Horgan should instruct Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson immediately to stop cruise ships from entering Vancouver’s harbour if he is serious about his threats and court challenges against the Kinder Morgan pipeline.

We also do not approve of Victoria discharging raw sewage into the ocean. That does not seem very “green” to us.
