Affordable daycare can change lives, society

My husband died when our children were two and four years old. I was living in France and needed to work to support our family. I shudder to think what would have become of us had there not been free and high-quality care for my children at the little local elementary school in the form of all day pre-school.

Today, I run a charitable organization called Kidcarecanada. No doubt my early experiences were a huge motivation for me to form this organization. I know what it is like to be a stressed single mother. I am writing, not as the executive director of this society but as someone who understands how affordable and good-quality daycare can change the lives of individual families and society.

Even people with no children will reap the rewards of living in a society where very young children are nurtured and cared for by responsive and responsible caregivers.
