Visit parrot centre to judge its value

Re: "Spending priorities need a second look," letter, Feb. 1.

I have been to the parrot refuge in Coombs and have found it to be a heartwrenching experience. I am glad government help is being offered.

Anyone who doubts the value of the refuge should visit it at Coombs, near Parksville, to see these creatures, talk to the staff and learn of the sad circumstances, always as a result of human action, that caused each and every one of these birds to be at the centre.

I congratulate the government for reevaluating its priorities with respect to this matter. I wish that people would find out what something is truly about before criticizing it.
