Deer a problem mainly for gardeners

A number of concerns are constantly aired about urban deer, but when you get down to it, the majority of complaints come from gardeners.

All manner of solutions have been suggested, including a cull, and all of them are expected to be provided by and paid for by some level of government. That means tax dollars.

Gardening is a hobby — nobody has to do it. I have no objection to gardening, but pay for your own hobby. If you need a fence, build it and maintain it. Install motion-sensor sprinklers. Do whatever you have to do, but do it yourself and pay for it yourself.

My hobby is fishing. I do not expect the tax base to fix my boat or buy my bait. If I cannot afford gas for my boat, I do not go fishing. If you cannot afford to protect your garden, find another hobby.

Here we are living in one of the few cities in the world that has large wildlife wandering around in it and people want to kill them so they can grow petunias.
