Re: "ICBC rates needed to rise," Feb. 11.
The president and CEO of ICBC states this is an average rate increase of 2.1 per cent or $27 and the first increase in seven years.
He is missing the point. I would gladly pay the $27, if required, but not to sustain their obscene bonuses. This has nothing to do with how small a percentage management is taking and everything to do with entitlement and greed.
If what he claims is true, that $1.04 of every premium dollar collected is going to claims and related costs and not sustainable, then news flash: Stop taking bonuses.
Why do all these managers feel this entitlement of a bonus for doing their job? The public is not only disgusted but furious with constant golden handshakes (often given after only a few months of service), MLAs' horrific pensions after six short years on the payroll and CEOs thinking they are entitled to two paycheques. One is for doing their job and the second paycheque (the bonus part) is for . I am sorry, this part escapes me, could it possibly be for . doing their job?
