I read with utmost disgust that the Parliamentary restaurant will soon serve seal meat. Just when I feel we are slowly making steps forward and, hopefully following in the steps of other countries by banning seal products altogether, I learn we've taken a major step back.

It's been shown how inhumane the sealing hunt is. Seal skins have plummeted in value. Many countries have already banned seal skin. Why is Canada committed to ensuring the continuation of this unnecessary hunt? Why must we continue to show solidarity with the Eastern provinces? Do they not have other industries to focus on other than this brutality? I'm dismayed and saddened as a Canadian.
