Ferries shows privatization risks

 

 
 
 

David Hahn's arrogant response to the comptroller general's report is typical of the way he's run the ferry system. The only difference since he took the helm is that the waits are longer and fares are higher (tripled for outer island routes).

By creating this "quasi-private" entity, it would seem the Liberals have insulated the executives and ferry board from responsibility and accountability to the public.

Shouldn't this give us cause to pause when we read of Gordon Campbell's intentions to focus on private power companies for future energy needs?
