NEW YORK, N.Y. - The son of a woman whose dismembered remains were found in trash bags on New York City streets has been arrested on murder charges.

Police say 23-year-old Bashid McLean and an acquaintance were picked up on Wednesday in connection with the death of McLean's mother, 45-year-old Tanya Byrd.

A nearby resident walking a dog found a bag with some of the remains on a Bronx street Tuesday. Police then found three other bags on surrounding blocks.

McLean and 26-year-old William Harris also are charged with unlawfully dissecting a human body and hindering prosecution.

It's unclear whether the suspects have lawyers. No phone numbers can be found for their homes.
