WASHINGTON - President Barack Obama has called the president-elect of South Korea, Park Geun-hye, to congratulate her on her victory as she became the Asian nation's first female leader.
The White House said in the call Thursday night the two leaders agreed on the need for continued close co-operation on a range of regional and global security issues, including North Korea.
Obama also said he looks forward to working with Park to strengthen economic ties.
