Expectant parents searching for that unique first name might want to look at Ursula or Ulysses. U was the only letter with no entries on the list of baby names registered in 2012, the most recent year tallied by the B.C. Vital Statistic Agency.

U was the only letter with no entries on the list of baby names registered in 2012, the most recent year tallied by the B.C. Vital Statistic Agency.

No girls were given names beginning with X. But boys had Xavier and Xander (also spelled Zander).

The most popular names in 2012 were Olivia and Ethan.

Those were followed by Emma, Sophia, Emily and Ava for girls, and Liam, Lucas, Mason and Logan for boys.

B.C. Vital Statistics recorded 44,270 births in B.C. during 2012, up from 43,991 in 2011.
