Three girls, one boy — quadruplets born to Victoria couple

It took only about four minutes for a Victoria couple to become a family of six.

Mark Brown said his wife, Alicia, gave birth to quadruplets between 7:41 a.m. and 7:45 a.m. at Victoria General Hospital on Tuesday.

“We are thrilled to welcome babies Riley, Emma, Liam and Alyssa to our family,” the parents said in a statement issued through the hospital.

The three girls, one boy and their parents are all doing well.

The Browns thanked their family and staff at Victoria General Hospital for the excellent care they’ve been given.

The babies made it to seven months in the womb before they were delivered by caesarean section. The infants — two sets of twins, one identical, the other fraternal — are expected to remain in the neonatal intensive care unit for about eight weeks.

The family is “very grateful for the outpouring of support” received so far, but is now asking for privacy so the parents and babies can bond.

It is the first set of quadruplets in the region in six years. The last quads born locally were to Brentwood Bay parents Lisa Hardy and Tim Sorenson, who became parents to four boys, also at Victoria General, on Dec. 5, 2008.

Brown told Global News he expects life to be “a fun ride” from now on.

“I do not think anybody is financially ready to have four babies, but we will do what we can,” he said.

As to having more kids, the answer, not surprisingly, is that four is enough.
