NEWMARKET, Ont. - The Ontario SPCA is looking for homes for 14 mallard ducks.
The SPCA acquired the ducks when a concerned citizen contacted the society after finding 36 of the mixed breed birds in a Markham, Ont., pond.
Homes have been found for 22 of the birds, however the society is still looking for homes for ten males and four female ducks.
Insp. Paul Harrison says although the birds look like wild animals, there are subtle differences that identify them as a hybrid domestic breed which cannot survive in the wild.
Anyone interested in adopting a duck is asked to call the society's adoption centre.
