Support workers at Camosun and North Island colleges have voted in favour of strike action to back contract demands.
The Canadian Union of Public Employees said Wednesday that Local 2081 voted 96 per cent in support of strike action at Camo-sun, while Local 3479 at North Island College voted 86 per cent in favour.
The unions, which have been without a contract since 2010, must serve 72-hour strike notice before taking job action. They want wage increases and protection against inflation.
Meanwhile, CUPE Locals 917 and 951 at the University of Victoria have ratified four-year deals that date to 2010.
The agreements call for no increase in the first two years and two per cent hikes in each of the final two years.
CUPE support staff at the University of B.C. and the University of Northern B.C. ratified similar deals.
