Construction is underway on a suspension bridge that will provide spectacular views of the falls at Cascade Falls Regional Park.

A suspension bridge under construction near Mission will give hikers a bird’s-eye view of a stunning 30-metre waterfall.

The bridge is being built at Cascade Falls, a regional park overseen by the Fraser Valley Regional District.

“It’s a little gem,” FVRD spokeswoman Jennifer Kinneman said of the park, which is about 30 minutes northeast of Mission.

The bridge is slated for completion in early fall and is being funded by independent power company Innergex, which operates several run-of-river power plants on creeks in the area. Innergex has contributed $225,000 to the project and will also install educational signage on hydroelectricity, said Kinneman.

The FVRD and B.C. Hydro have also contributed funds.

The bridge will be accessible to people of different abilities and will also feature a viewing platform. It will be a little shorter than the bridge over Lynn Canyon, but significantly lower.
