Official Leader of the Opposition in Prince Edward Island steps down

The Canadian Press / Times Colonist
February 11, 2013

CHARLOTTETOWN - The Progressive Conservative Party in Prince Edward Island is without an official Opposition leader.

In a statement released today Hal Perry says he's stepping aside in the best interest of the party and of the province.

Perry says a new leader will be chosen internally at the next party caucus meeting.

There has been much confusion about the Tory leadership roles after Steven Myers was chosen by the party's executive and caucus as interim party leader while Perry was supported by the majority of the five member caucus as Opposition leader.

Perry was officially recognized as Opposition leader just last week in a letter from legislature Speaker Carolyn Bertram.
