ST. JOHN'S, N.L. - A filibuster in the Newfoundland and Labrador legislature over the Muskrat Falls project legislation has ended.

The opposition parties were trying to delay passage of bills that would have Nalcor Energy recover the cost of the $7.7-billion hydroelectric project through ratepayers.

But bills 60 and 61 were passed early Saturday morning by the Premier Kathy Dunderdale's Progressive Conservative majority government.

NDP leader Lorraine Michael says in a news release that her caucus has no regrets after spending about 86 hours delaying the passage of the bills.

Michael says the bills mean ratepayers are committed to buying power from the project for the next half a century and there's no way of knowing if the cost of the project will balloon.
